Terms of Use

These terms apply when you use the Kalby app or website (kalby.app). “Kalby,” “we” and “us” mean the people who run Kalby. By using Kalby, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use it.

Using Kalby

• You need to be at least 18 to create a family. Grown-ups can add kids and may give a kid their own login (we recommend 13 and older); the grown-ups in the family are responsible for how their kids use Kalby.
• Use a real email address you control. Keep access to your email and devices secure; anyone who can read your email can sign in as you.
• The person who creates a family is its Family Admin and decides who is in it. Invite only people you trust with your family's schedule.

Your family's information

What you put in Kalby (events, names, notes) stays yours. You give us permission to store it and show it to the members of your family so the app can work. How we handle it is described in our Privacy Policy.

Please don't use Kalby to store anything illegal, to harass anyone, or to try to access another family's information or break the service.

Add from a photo

If you use Add from a photo, Kalby uses an AI service to read the events on your picture. It can misread dates, times or names, so the events are shown to you to check before anything is saved, and you're responsible for what you add. Each family can import a limited number of photos each month (currently 3).

Linked calendars

If you link an outside calendar, you confirm you're allowed to share it with your family. Kalby only reads it; it never changes the outside calendar. Removing a linked event in Kalby hides it here only.

Reminders and availability

We work hard to keep Kalby running and to deliver reminders on time, but we can't promise it will always be available or that every notification will arrive (phones, networks and notification services can fail or be switched off). Please don't rely on Kalby alone for anything where a missed reminder could cause harm, such as medication or safety.

Price and subscriptions

Kalby is free while it's in early access. When paid plans start, this is how they'll work, and we'll tell every family in the app before anyone is charged:

• One subscription covers the whole family, however many people are in it. The Family Admin pays; everyone else in the family uses Kalby at no extra cost.
• 14-day free trial for new families. You won't be charged if you cancel before the trial ends.
• After the trial, the subscription costs $2.50 a month (plus any tax) and renews automatically each month until you cancel. The price in the app or the App Store at the time you subscribe is the one that applies.
• Cancel anytime. If you subscribed on an iPhone or iPad, cancel in your Apple ID settings; if you subscribed on the web, cancel in Kalby's Settings. You keep access until the end of the period you've paid for. We don't give refunds for partial months, except where the law requires it; purchases made through Apple follow Apple's refund rules.
• If a subscription ends, your family's calendar is kept for at least 90 days so you can come back or save a copy, and you can still delete your account at any time.
• If we ever change the price, we'll tell you at least 30 days before it applies to you, and you can cancel before then.

Changes and ending

• We may improve or change Kalby over time. If we change these terms in a meaningful way, we'll let you know in the app or by email.
• You can stop using Kalby at any time. You can delete your account yourself in Settings → Account, or ask us at hello@kalby.app.
• We may suspend an account that breaks these terms or puts other families at risk.
• If we ever shut Kalby down, we'll give you advance notice and a way to save your calendar.

The legal part

Kalby is provided “as is,” without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for missed events or reminders, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before it (which, while Kalby is free, is zero). Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, USA.
